Common Uses: Coriander seeds have been a popular stimulant and spice for thousands of years. Coriander has been cultivated for over 3000 years and it mentioned in medical texts from medieval Europe and ancient Greece, in the Bible and early Sanskrit writers. The seeds have been found at the tombs of Tutankhamun and Rameses II.
Energetically, coriander essential oil is considered to be warm and dry in nature, having digestive and carminative properties. In traditional Chinese medicine, coriander essential oil is believed to circulate Qi-energy in the stomach and intestines and is useful for poor appetite, indigestion, abdominal distention, and flatulence. It also fortifies the Qi and the nerves making it useful for general debility, mental fatigue, and nervous exhaustion.

Circulation, Muscles And Joints: Accumulation of fluids or toxins, arthritis, gout, muscular aches and pains, poor circulation, rheumatism, stiffness. Consider blending together with lavender, marjoram, clary sage, ginger, black pepper, lemongrass.
Digestive System: Anorexia, colic, diarrhoea, appetite stimulation, dyspepsia, flatulence, nausea, piles, spasm. Consider blending with lime, sweet fennel, carrot seed, ginger.
Immune System: Colds, ’flu, infections (general). Consider blending with palmarosa, basil, lemongrass, bergamot, lime, sweet orange.
Nervous System: Debility, migraine, neuralgia, nervous exhaustion. For anxiety, consider blending with ylang ylang, patchouli or citrus oils.

Description: A colourless to pale yellow liquid with sweet, spicy, slightly fruity, herbaceous warm smell. It has been claimed that the aroma improves with age.
Caution: Generally non-toxic, non-irritant, non-sensitising. Not for ingestion. May be stupefying in large doses - use in moderation.
