Common Uses And Benefits:

Potent Insect Repellent: Citronella oil is an effective essential oil against mosquito bites, including the species Aedes aegypti. This characteristic of the oil is due to the presence of four main components, citronellal, eugenol, geraniol and limonene. Citronella may also be useful in repelling black flies, fleas and ticks.

Deodorizing / Anti-Bacterial: Its fresh, bright citrus-like scent is known to naturally refresh the musty scent of the stale and unclean air. This cleansing and invigorating quality make citronella oil an ideal ingredient in natural room sprays and diffuser blends. Use this to refresh rooms, or to clear sickrooms.

Promotes Relaxation and Mental Clarity: A 2012 study documents that  citronella inhalation induced a significant  increase in relaxation and fresh feelings in participants. Citronella significantly decreased blood pressure, heart rate, and  respiratory rate after inhalation. Moreover, the power of alpha and beta brain activities was increased. Overall, the changes observed could be interpreted as reflecting the harmonious status  of  arousal and relaxation,  the  so-called  “relaxed  concentrate”.
