Bentonite is a natural clay containing a high proportion of montmorillonite, a native hydrate aluminium silicate which is composed of minerals including iron, silica and aluminium. It is a highly absorbent clay that is typically formed from old volcanic ash.
Bentonite clay is a unique clay due to its ability to produce an “electrical charge” when hydrated. It is a popular healing clay that detoxifies and softens skin. Suitable for normal, oily or acne-prone skin.
Suggested Uses: As an ingredient for facial masks. Can be used as a thickener and emulsion stabiliser (usage levels: 0.5-3%) for opaque products. Add to the water phase while stirring; continue stirring until a smooth thickened mixture with no clumps is formed. Do note that this clay cannot be used to create clear products.
