The borage plant is native to the Mediterranean and the oil comes from the seeds of the plant. Borage oil is found to have a high content of an essential fatty acid called gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) that offers anti-inflammatory properties when applied topically. 

GLA is an essential fatty acid that the body sometimes is unable to produce sufficiently for optimum health. The fatty acid profile of borage is 20 - 24% GLA, which is much higher than other similar plants such as evening primrose oil (~9% GLA in comparison). Regular topical usage of borage oil may assist the body restore some of its deficiency in this oil especially if one's health is compromised by stress, aging and lifestyle factors.

Due to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, borage oil containing GLA can be helpful for the following:

  • Face and body oil blends because of its restorative power for prematurely aged skin
  • To improve the skins' protective barrier, thus soothing inflammatory symptoms related to acne, psoriasis and eczema.
  • Reducing damage and inflammation from ultraviolet rays.
  • Soothes inflammatory conditions related to joint pain, arthritis, menstrual complaints, PMS and menopausal discomfort

Suggested usage: 5-25% in a blend.

Packaging: 100ml oils are sold in dark amber glass bottle. Other sizes in 500ml, 1L and 5L will be stored in sealed plastic PET or HDPE bottles. Kindly note that photos are for illustrative purposes only.

Storage: Keep in cool, dark and dry place. Best if kept refrigerated to prolong freshness and to maximize product shelf life.
