Common Uses: Traditionally cinnamon has been used to generate warmth and relieve pain. Freshens room with its “homey” welcoming scent. Its scent also aids in mental clarity, concentration and is a natural anti-depressant. Has mosquito repelling qualities and research shows it can kill mosquito larvae.
Cinnamon essential oil is extracted from either the leaf or the bark of the plant. The leaf oil is relatively non-toxic although it contains potential irritants namely cinnamaldehyde and eugenol. The bark oil is considered a dermal irritant, toxin and sensitizer - we do not carry the cinnamon bark oil.
- For muscle aches, inflammation and circulation: blend cinnamon leaf with non-irritant, anti-inflammatory oils such as geranium, lavender, basil, coriander seed, frankincense and rose absolutes (ratio 1:9)
- For skin fungal infections: a lavender and cinnamon combination with a dominance of lavender may have synergistic activity against C. albicans

Caution: Though non-toxic, it is capable of causing sensitivity - particularly with mucous membranes. It should also be used in proper dilution (suggested concentration to be around region of 0.5% dilution). Avoid during pregnancy. Eugenol can interact with medicine, inhibit blood clotting.
